Parliamentary Procedure

Goal: To give students and understanding of the importance of officers, traditions and parliamentary procedures within an FFA chapter.

Objectives:

1. To define parliamentary procedure and identify the reasons for using it.

2. To discuss the reasons and significance for FFA ceremonies and officers.

3. To demonstrate opening and closing ceremonies.

4. To learn how to properly run a productive and efficient FFA meeting.

Objectives

  2. Demonstrate the use of a gavel as a presiding officer, and
  3. Assess the concept of a meeting run with and without parliamentary procedure.

  2. List the steps of making a main motion,
  3. Demonstrate the use of a main motion with the entire class, and
  4. Evaluate previous meetings/events and the use of a main motion.

Objectives

  2. Modify a main motion as a class by using both forms of an amendment,
  3. Synthesize the concepts of a main motion and amendments, and
  4. Conclude a simple chapter-conducting problem as a class involving 1st and 2nd rank amendments.

  2. List the pertinent facts,
  3. Apply the motion to a meeting, and
  4. Verbally perform a previous question as a class.
