Goal: To introduce students to a key component of an FFA program, the FFA Creed. Students
should gain an understanding of the FFA Creed’s history, meaning and significance.
Description: Follow along as this presentation details the history of the FFA Creed as well as a
detailed description of its contents and meaning.
Objectives:
- To explain the purpose of a creed.
- To learn and explain the background and history of the FFA Creed.
- To memorize and recite the FFA Creed.
- To analyze the meaning and significance of the FFA Creed.
Day One-Three: Students will practice memorization of the creed together in class
Day Four: Students will take the first paragraph of the creed and break it down. Students will use critical thinking to decide what the paragraph is saying, write it in their own words and what it means to them and draw a small simple picture to relate to the paragraph.
Day Five: Students will have a short activity at the beginning of the class to review yesterday’s paragraph. The first paragraph will be cut into one word pieces and the class will work together to piece it together. Once completed students will write the second paragraph into their journal and write about how it can relate to their life in 4 or more sentences. We will have a class discussion about what students wrote.
Day Six: Students will have a short activity at the beginning of the class to review yesterday’s paragraph. The second paragraph will be cut into one word pieces and the class will work together to piece it together. Students will then receive the handout of the third paragraph and be asked to write it out using symbols. Ie. for ‘I believe’ I would draw an eyeball and then a bee and a leaf.
Day Seven: Students will write out fourth and fifth paragraph and write about what it means and how it could apply to their lives. After writing students will discuss what they wrote about.
Day 8-10 : Students will one by one present the creed to the class for a test grade and to complete one of the requirements of their greenhand degree.
